3 Projects To Tackle Over Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day weekend is the unofficial end of the summer, but isn't necessarily the time you will (or should) say to yourself "Oh, this is the perfect time for housework!". But between BBQs and lounging around, devoting some of the extra time afforded by a three-day weekend to your home can give you the gift of a cleaner, happier home just in time for the coming busy fall season.

Here are a few Labor Day weekend project ideas to make the transition into the new season a little easier, without having to sacrifice your entire weekend.

1. Clean out the garage

Can you fit your car in your garage? The garage is where we toss everything that doesn't have a place in the house. If you find yourself using your garage as a receptacle, it's likely that you haven't resolved all your organizing challenges within your home. Reclaim your garage and restore order. Spend the weekend organizing by zones, decluttering and sorting items.

2. Organize your closet

Knowing what's in your closet will keep you from buying duplicates and save you money. A good rule of thumb is if you haven't worn it in a year, it's time to go. Paring down your belongings will not only free up more time, space, and money, but it can also free you from stress.

3. Update your bathroom

If leaky faucets and shower heads are making your bathroom routines impossible, the weekend is a good time to take care of this important and frequently used area. These small updates will not only create a fresh new feel, but will also add value to your home.
